During household screenings, Community Health Personnel identified three women living with total blindness and referred them to Innovation Eye Centre at Kisii Eye Hospital for cataract surgery. With support from Peek, each of them got their sight back: and their lives back too.

Lost her vision after cataracts developed as a complication of type 1 diabetes. After surgery on both eyes, her sight was fully restored, giving her the chance to return to everyday life.
Verah, 32
Developed cataracts during pregnancy. After giving birth, she was unable to see her newborn baby. Two months later, she was identified and treated. When her eye patches were removed, the first person she wanted to see was her child, and for the first time, she could.

Both Verah and Anna are grateful to have their vision back and are able to support their families through income-generating work.
Joyce, 80
